Experience

Overview

Our Philosophy

When you plant a seed, you know what you are planting, but many factors will determine what and how it grows. In your yoga practice you may plant self-awareness, effort, respect, and could grow inner calm, strength, or self-acceptance. Everyone can grow. Yoga is for everyone, no matter where you are personally, mentally, physically or spiritually.

"To grow is to go beyond what you are today. Stand up as yourself. Do not imitate. Do not pretend that you have achieved your goals, and do not cut corners. Just try to grow." (Svami Prajnanpad)

Where better than an organic farm in Costa Rica to prepare the ground to start growing some seeds? Who knows what will grow out of your experience?

Our philosophy is also about what you will not find at Seeds of Yoga Retreat (apart from the margaritas)..
  • No upscale retreat facility resort
  • No luxurious spa treatments
  • No fancy clothes
  • No famous yoga names

The Practice

The Seeds of Yoga incorporates principles of Astanga Yoga with a more creative and less predictable Vinyasa-flow sequencing, as taught at O2 Yoga Studio. The teaching is progressive, several steps of a same pose are offered so that you can gradually get to the full expression of the pose. We will also give you personal adjustments to help you find the proper alignment and get the full benefit of the pose. We also like to include partner work, to keep you connected not only with your body, but with others too. The result is a balance of athletic yet peaceful, invigorating yet calming, fun and challenging yoga experience.

The weather in March in the region is warm, sunny, and dry which are ideal conditions for yoga. Our flow like practice will build the necessary heat to meet your experience, needs and desires.

The Levels

The Seeds of Yoga Retreat is open to all levels, including beginners. Each pose is sequenced several times, with variations, bringing students deeper into it and giving the opportunity for many levels of complexity. We make sure that each class meets your needs and desires. The morning class prepares your body for work, awakening and stretching the muscles and spine, setting a pace for your day. The afternoon class is more vigorous, but also restorative and meditative.

All classes are meant to make you feel good in your body and spirit. We will teach you, support you, and help you enhance your practice, but ultimately, the journey is yours. Just try to grow.

  • "Frederique's classes were the perfect combination of being well-planned, challenging, and playful!" - Laurie
  • "The classes were challenging, but attainable and everyone was able to find their own place in terms of level. It was especially fun to play around with poses you either don't usually try, have never seen, or even partnered poses" - Morgen
